The 570 Blog Showcase - Rodney Perez / Producer / Engineer
My name is Rodney Perez. Who is Rodney you might ask? I’m a Producer/Engineer born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Becoming a creator means everything to me. Ever since I was little I was a music fanatic, inspired by every sound I ever heard.
I was spending my childhood watching MTV and BET just blasting music through TV speakers listening to all kinds of music. Every time I heard something new I would get goosebumps and just listen in awe. It’s who I am as a person. I feel like I was always meant to be a creator.
Inspirations can come from a lot of places. We as humans, have five senses. Music interacts with one of those senses, and it really spoke to me. Watching people interact with music and developing music taste means a lot. It certainly played a role in my development as a creator.
In the beginning, I was honestly inspired by everything surrounding me, people driving down playing music loudly, my family blasting bachata, even in elementary school I had some friends that would freestyle. I would hop in playing around but I knew I wasn’t a rapper or anything like that. I love music and I wanted to be a part of it, but in my own way. When I turned 14 I started doing my research on making beats and I fell into a rabbit hole of just inspiration and amazement. I said to myself right then and there, I want to do this, this is who I am. Music became the ultimate goal for me.
In the end a lot plays into your decision to make your dream a reality, but sometimes you are all you got. Just be confident and believe in yourself, don’t be afraid of what people will think of you or how they’ll criticize your creativity.
My vision for the future is just to continue this journey of working with new artists and helping them sculpt their sound and also grow as a producer/engineer, and a few plaques would be nice too.
